Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Still Life Of Flowers In An Urn Togther With Cut Roses In A Glass Vase Upon A Table In A Niche by Johann Baptist Drechsler was sold in the Old Master & British Paintings auction at Sothebys in London in May 2012. The price achieved of GBP 37,250.00 (€ 46,411.86) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 30,000.00 – 40,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Johann Baptist Drechsler - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Roses, carnations, tulips and other flowers in a gold sculpted urn with peaches and grapes on a stone ledge with butterflies, in a niche, which sold at auction in December 2006 for GBP 96,000.00 (€ 142,476.02).
