The »bidding war« ended at GBP 4,788.00 (€ 5,739.02), 60% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Johan Hendrik van Mastenbroek achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Dutch 'Ijsvreugde Op Holland'S Vaarten' (Winter Fun On A Dutch Canal) in April 2008 with an auction result of EUR 117,850.00.

Die Arbeit Bij de stad von Johan Hendrik van Mastenbroek wurde im Januar letzten Jahres in der Auktion Royal & Noble bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 4.788,00 (€ 5.739,02) und damit 60% über dem oberen Schätzpreis.
