Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In June 2020 Christies in New York held the auction Photographs, which included the work McLean, Virginia, December, 1978 by Joel Sternfeld. The »bidding war« ended at USD 21,250.00 (€ 18,920.84), 18% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Joel Sternfeld have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work On This Site: Landscape In Memoriam, 1993-1996 in April 2004 with an auction result of USD 153,100.00 (€ 77,518.99).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Juni 2020 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit McLean, Virginia, December, 1978 von Joel Sternfeld zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 21.250,00 (€ 18.920,84) und damit 18% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Joel Sternfeld auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit On This Site: Landscape In Memoriam, 1993-1996 im April 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 153.100,00 (€ 77.518,99).
