Auction result well in line with expectations
In April last year Christies in New York held the auction Photographs from the Richard Gere Collection, which included the work Le Baiser, New Mexico, 1982 by Joel-Peter Witkin. The price achieved of USD 30,240.00 (€ 28,698.87) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 25,000.00 – 35,000.00. Other works by Joel-Peter Witkin have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in April 2000 the work The Kiss was auctioned for USD 35,250.00 (€ 38,783.14).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im April letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Photographs from the Richard Gere Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit Le Baiser, New Mexico, 1982 von Joel-Peter Witkin zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 30.240,00 (€ 28.698,87) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 25.000,00 – 35.000,00 angegeben worden. Andere Arbeiten von Joel-Peter Witkin konnten bereits höhere Auktionspreise erzielen, so wurde im April 2000 die Arbeit The Kiss für USD 35.250,00 (€ 38.783,14) versteigert.
