It achieved a price of EUR 5,760.00 exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 44 %. Admittedly, works by Joel-Peter Witkin have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Kiss in April 2000 with an auction result of USD 35,250.00 (€ 38,783.14).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 44 % übertroffen
Die Arbeit Eternity Past, Berlin (Allegory on Modernism) von Joel-Peter Witkin wurde im Oktober diesen Jahres in der Auktion The Stoclet Collections bei Bonhams in Paris versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von EUR 5.760,00 und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 44 %. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Joel-Peter Witkin auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Kiss im April 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 35.250,00 (€ 38.783,14).
