Auction result misses estimated price range
In December this year a collector was able to acquire the work Apollonia and Dominetrix Creating Pain in the Art of the West, New York City by Joel-Peter Witkin for EUR 1,512.00. This price was achieved in the auction Photographie at Lempertz in Cologne and was even below the estimate range of EUR 1,800.00 – 2,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joel-Peter Witkin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Kiss in April 2000 with an auction result of USD 35,250.00 (€ 38,783.14).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Dezember diesen Jahres konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Apollonia and Dominetrix Creating Pain in the Art of the West, New York City von Joel-Peter Witkin für EUR 1.512,00 erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Photographie bei Lempertz in Köln erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von EUR 1.800,00 – 2.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Joel-Peter Witkin erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Kiss im April 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 35.250,00 (€ 38.783,14).
