Auction result misses estimated price range
In November this year a collector was able to acquire the work 'Self-Portrait (Reminiscent of Portrait as a Vanité)' by Joel-Peter Witkin for USD 1,536.00 (€ 1,408.14). This price was achieved in the auction Dance of Death at Bonhams in Skinner Marlborough, Massachusetts and was even below the estimate range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joel-Peter Witkin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Kiss in April 2000 with an auction result of USD 35,250.00 (€ 38,783.14).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im November diesen Jahres konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit 'Self-Portrait (Reminiscent of Portrait as a Vanité)' von Joel-Peter Witkin für USD 1.536,00 (€ 1.408,14) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Dance of Death bei Bonhams in Skinner Marlborough, Massachusetts erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Joel-Peter Witkin erzielen.
