Auction result well in line with expectations
The work God of Earth and Heaven, Los Angeles, 1988 by Joel-Peter Witkin was sold in the Photographs auction at Christies in New York in October last year. The price achieved of USD 7,560.00 (€ 7,610.23) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 6,000.00 – 9,000.00. Admittedly, works by Joel-Peter Witkin have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Kiss in April 2000 with an auction result of USD 35,250.00 (€ 38,783.14).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit God of Earth and Heaven, Los Angeles, 1988 von Joel-Peter Witkin wurde im Oktober letzten Jahres in der Auktion Photographs bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 7.560,00 (€ 7.610,23) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 6.000,00 – 9.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Joel-Peter Witkin auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Kiss im April 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 35.250,00 (€ 38.783,14).
