Upper estimate price exceeded by 33 %.
The work Spanish Pavilion Of Charles V, Alcázar Of Seville by Joaquín Sorolla y Bastida was sold in the European Art auction at Sothebys in New York in May 2018. The »bidding war« ended at USD 399,000.00 (€ 341,902.31), 33% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joaquín Sorolla y Bastida achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Spanish pescadores Valencianos (Valencian Fishermen) in November 2012 with an auction result of GBP 3,737,250.00 (€ 4,603,912.82).
