The work El Palleter by Joaquín Sorolla y Bastida was sold in the 19th Century European Paintings auction at Sothebys in London in July 2019. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 93,750.00 (€ 102,931.27), 56% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joaquín Sorolla y Bastida achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Spanish pescadores Valencianos (Valencian Fishermen) in November 2012 with an auction result of GBP 3,737,250.00 (€ 4,603,912.82).
