This artwork by Joaquín Sorolla y Bastida achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in November 2012. In the 19th Century European Paintings auction, the work Spanish pescadores Valencianos (Valencian Fishermen) sold for GBP 3,737,250.00 (€ 4,603,912.82) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,500,000.00. This high result makes Spanish pescadores Valencianos (Valencian Fishermen) the most expensive artwork by Joaquín Sorolla y Bastida that we have observed at auctions so far.
