Auction result misses estimated price range
In December 2018 a collector was able to acquire the work Spanish la Fuente De Los Caballos, La Granja (The Horses Fountain, La Granja) by Joaquín Sorolla y Bastida for GBP 370,000.00 (€ 412,212.81). This price was achieved in the auction 19th Century European Paintings at Sothebys in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 400,000.00 – 600,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joaquín Sorolla y Bastida achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Spanish pescadores Valencianos (Valencian Fishermen) in November 2012 with an auction result of GBP 3,737,250.00 (€ 4,603,912.82).
