Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Spanish Gitana by Joaquín Sorolla y Bastida was sold in the 19th Century European Paintings auction at Sothebys in London in May 2018. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 50,000.00 – 70,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 52,500.00 (€ 59,783.42) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joaquín Sorolla y Bastida achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Spanish pescadores Valencianos (Valencian Fishermen) in November 2012 with an auction result of GBP 3,737,250.00 (€ 4,603,912.82).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Spanish Gitana von Joaquín Sorolla y Bastida wurde im Mai 2018 in der Auktion 19th Century European Paintings bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 50.000,00 – 70.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 52.500,00 (€ 59.783,42) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Joaquín Sorolla y Bastida erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Spanish pescadores Valencianos (Valencian Fishermen) im November 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 3.737.250,00 (€ 4.603.912,82).
