Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Holy Family With The Infant Saint John The Baptist And An Angel by Joachim Wtewael was auctioned at Christies in New York in January 2014. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 150,000.00 – 200,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 161,000.00 (€ 119,259.26) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joachim Wtewael achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Mars and Venus Surprised by Vulcan in July 2012 with an auction result of GBP 4,633,250.00 (€ 5,901,515.18).

Die Arbeit The Holy Family With The Infant Saint John The Baptist And An Angel von Joachim Wtewael kam im Januar 2014 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 150.000,00 – 200.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 161.000,00 (€ 119.259,26) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Joachim Wtewael erzielen.
