Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Joachim Wtewael could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in January 2021 for an unexpectedly low price. In the The Collection of Hester Diamond Part I auction, the work Adoration of the Shepherds changed hands for USD 685,500.00 (€ 564,894.93) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 1,000,000.00 – 1,500,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joachim Wtewael achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Mars and Venus Surprised by Vulcan in July 2012 with an auction result of GBP 4,633,250.00 (€ 5,901,515.18).
