A top price for Joachim Wtewael
In July 2012 Christies in London held the auction Old Master & British Paintings Evening Sale, which included the work Mars and Venus Surprised by Vulcan by Joachim Wtewael. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 4,633,250.00 (€ 5,901,515.18), 16% above the upper estimate. With this result, Mars and Venus Surprised by Vulcan is even the most expensive work of art by Joachim Wtewael that we have observed at auctions so far.
Ein Spitzenpreis für Joachim Wtewael
Im Juli 2012 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Master & British Paintings Evening Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Mars and Venus Surprised by Vulcan von Joachim Wtewael zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 4.633.250,00 (€ 5.901.515,18) und damit 16% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Mit diesem Ergebnis ist Mars and Venus Surprised by Vulcan sogar das teuerste Kunstwerk von Joachim Wtewael, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
