The price achieved of GBP 4,634,000.00 (€ 5,087,823.90) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 4,000,000.00 – 6,000,000.00. Other works by Joachim Wtewael have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in July 2012 the work Mars and Venus Surprised by Vulcan was auctioned for GBP 4,633,250.00 (€ 5,901,515.18).
