Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%

This artwork by Joachim Wtewael achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December 2008. In the Old Master & British Pictures (Day Sale) auction, the work The Apotheosis of Venus and Diana sold for GBP 223,250.00 (€ 234,477.46) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 100,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joachim Wtewael achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Mars and Venus Surprised by Vulcan in July 2012 with an auction result of GBP 4,633,250.00 (€ 5,901,515.18).

Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen

Dieses Kunstwerk von Joachim Wtewael erzielte im Dezember 2008 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Master & British Pictures (Day Sale) wurde die Arbeit The Apotheosis of Venus and Diana für GBP 223.250,00 (€ 234.477,46) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 100.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Joachim Wtewael erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Mars and Venus Surprised by Vulcan im Juli 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 4.633.250,00 (€ 5.901.515,18).
