Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Shadow (No. 1445) by Jiro Takamatsu was sold in the 20th Century & Contemporary Art & Design Evening Sale auction at Phillips in Hong Kong in November 2017. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of HKD 1,200,000.00 – 2,200,000.00, the actual price achieved of HKD 1,375,000.00 (€ 148,039.59) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jiro Takamatsu - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Shadow No. 1391, which sold at auction in November 2016 for USD 538,000.00 (€ 508,602.76).
