Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
The work Five - Character Couplet In Clerical Script by Jing Hengyi was worth HKD 153,400.00 (€ 16,186.15) to a buyer in April 2018. This price was achieved in the auction Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy at China Guardian in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 32,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Jing Hengyi; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Calligraphy in Running Script sold at auction in April 2014 with the realized price of HKD 184,000.00 (€ 17,113.19).
