Auction result well in line with expectations
In December last year Christies in Hong Kong held the auction Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy, which included the work Lohan by Jin Nong. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of HKD 3,000,000.00 – 5,000,000.00, the actual price achieved of HKD 3,024,000.00 (€ 362,382.50) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jin Nong - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Calligraphy In Qi Script, which sold at auction in October 2015 for HKD 7,520,000.00 (€ 878,536.50).
