Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Little Maid And The White Hart by Jessie Marion King was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in October 2013. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 10,625.00 (€ 7,815.95) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jessie Marion King - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work 'No Goblin or Swart Faëry Hath Hurtfull Power' - illustration to John Milton's 'Comus', which sold at auction in December last year for GBP 17,640.00 (€ 19,913.84).
