The work When a poor man came in sight by Jessie Marion King was worth GBP 6,375.00 (€ 7,426.80) to a buyer in October last year. This price was achieved in the auction Scottish Art at Bonhams in Edinburgh and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 1,800.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jessie Marion King - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work 'No Goblin or Swart Faëry Hath Hurtfull Power' - illustration to John Milton's 'Comus', which sold at auction in December last year for GBP 17,640.00 (€ 19,913.84).
