This artwork by Jeffrey Smart achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in Sydney in May 2007. In the Important Australian Art Including Works from the Qantas Collection auction, the work Australian Study For The Overpass, Siena sold for AUD 180,000.00 (€ 110,678.66) - well above the upper estimate of AUD 90,000.00. Admittedly, works by Jeffrey Smart have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Australian The Painted Factory, Tuscany in August 2009 with an auction result of AUD 870,000.00 (€ 511,490.18).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Jeffrey Smart erzielte im Mai 2007 bei Sothebys in Sydney einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Important Australian Art Including Works from the Qantas Collection wurde die Arbeit Australian Study For The Overpass, Siena für AUD 180.000,00 (€ 110.678,66) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von AUD 90.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jeffrey Smart auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Australian The Painted Factory, Tuscany im August 2009 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 870.000,00 (€ 511.490,18).
