Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Australian study For Dampier by Jeffrey Smart was auctioned at Sothebys in Melbourne in August 2008. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of AUD 18,000.00 – 25,000.00, the actual price achieved of AUD 19,200.00 (€ 11,207.96) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jeffrey Smart achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Australian The Painted Factory, Tuscany in August 2009 with an auction result of AUD 870,000.00 (€ 511,490.18).
