Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Charles the First by Jean-Michel Basquiat was sold in the Prints & Multiples auction at Sothebys in London in March 2021. The price achieved of GBP 47,880.00 (€ 56,246.67) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 35,000.00 – 55,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean-Michel Basquiat achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work without title in May 2017 with an auction result of USD 110,487,500.00 (€ 98,333,481.67).
