The work Le Cycliste by Jean Metzinger was sold in the Impressionist, Modern & Surrealist Art Evening Sale auction at Sothebys in London in February 2020. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 3,015,000.00 (€ 3,494,391.84), 51% above the upper estimate. This high result makes Le Cycliste the most expensive artwork by Jean Metzinger that we have observed at auctions so far.
