Auction result misses estimated price range
In May 2001 a collector was able to acquire this work without title by Jean Mary Bellette for AUD 1,175.00 (€ 704.31). This price was achieved in the auction AUSTRALIAN AND INTERNATIONAL PAINTINGS at Christies in Melbourne and was even below the estimate range of AUD 1,500.00 – 2,500.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean Mary Bellette achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Mourners, c.1970 in April 2021 with an auction result of AUD 17,835.00 (€ 14,825.44).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Mai 2001 konnte ein Sammler diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Jean Mary Bellette für AUD 1.175,00 (€ 704,31) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion AUSTRALIAN AND INTERNATIONAL PAINTINGS bei Christies in Melbourne erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von AUD 1.500,00 – 2.500,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jean Mary Bellette erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Mourners, c.1970 im April 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 17.835,00 (€ 14.825,44).
