Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work View of the Roman Campagna, with Lake Nemi (?) by Jean-Joseph-Xavier Bidauld was auctioned at Christies in New York in January 2024, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 56,700.00 (€ 49,554.27). Admittedly, works by Jean-Joseph-Xavier Bidauld have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Augustan bridge on the Nera river, near the town of Narni, Italy in January 2005 with an auction result of USD 441,600.00 (€ 338,416.74).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit View of the Roman Campagna, with Lake Nemi (?) von Jean-Joseph-Xavier Bidauld im Januar 2024 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 60.000,00 – 80.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 56.700,00 (€ 49.554,27) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jean-Joseph-Xavier Bidauld auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Augustan bridge on the Nera river, near the town of Narni, Italy im Januar 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 441.600,00 (€ 338.416,74).
