Sold at the lower estimate price
In January 2020 Sothebys in New York held the auction Master Paintings & Sculpture Day Sale, which included the work François I At The Fountain Of Vaucluse by Jean-Joseph-Xavier Bidauld. The result of USD 20,000.00 (€ 18,029.39) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean-Joseph-Xavier Bidauld achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Augustan bridge on the Nera river, near the town of Narni, Italy in January 2005 with an auction result of USD 441,600.00 (€ 338,416.74).
