Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Jean-Honoré Fragonard achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in July last year. In the Old Masters Evening Auction auction, the work The Fountain of Love sold for GBP 718,200.00 (€ 857,658.36) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 300,000.00. Admittedly, works by Jean-Honoré Fragonard have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Le Verrou (The Bolt) in July 2007 with an auction result of GBP 5,172,000.00 (€ 7,681,613.89).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Jean-Honoré Fragonard erzielte im Juli letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Masters Evening Auction wurde die Arbeit The Fountain of Love für GBP 718.200,00 (€ 857.658,36) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 300.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jean-Honoré Fragonard auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Le Verrou (The Bolt) im Juli 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 5.172.000,00 (€ 7.681.613,89).
