Upper estimated price slightly exceeded

The work La Gimblette (The Ring Biscuit) by Jean-Honoré Fragonard was sold in the Old Masters auction at Christies in New York in January 2024. Here, the upper estimate of USD 700,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 756,000.00 (€ 660,723.65). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean-Honoré Fragonard achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Le Verrou (The Bolt) in July 2007 with an auction result of GBP 5,172,000.00 (€ 7,681,613.89).

Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen

Die Arbeit La Gimblette (The Ring Biscuit) von Jean-Honoré Fragonard wurde im Januar 2024 in der Auktion Old Masters bei Christies in New York versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 700.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 756.000,00 (€ 660.723,65) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jean-Honoré Fragonard erzielen.
