Auction result misses estimated price range
In April 2008 a collector was able to acquire the work Still Life With Roses And Wild Strawberries by Jean-Baptiste Robie for USD 43,000.00 (€ 27,620.76). This price was achieved in the auction 19th Century European Art at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jean-Baptiste Robie - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Roses, anenomes and peonies, strawberries, a silver-gilt ostrich egg cup and a German gold-gilt tankard on a draped table, which sold at auction in April 2000 for GBP 54,050.00 (€ 92,531.41).
