Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2011 Sothebys in London held the auction European Paintings, which included the work Belgian a Bouquet Of Cabbage Roses by Jean-Baptiste Robie. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 21,250.00 (€ 24,807.20) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jean-Baptiste Robie - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Roses, anenomes and peonies, strawberries, a silver-gilt ostrich egg cup and a German gold-gilt tankard on a draped table, which sold at auction in April 2000 for GBP 54,050.00 (€ 92,531.41).
