Auction result well in line with expectations
The work William III leading his troops at the Battle of Namur by Jan Wyck was auctioned at Christies in Amsterdam in November 2008. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of EUR 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of EUR 6,250.00 could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jan Wyck achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work View Of Sprotborough Hall, Near Doncaster, Yorkshire, With Cattle And Herdsman On The Banks Of The River Don Before in June 2002 with an auction result of GBP 45,410.00 (€ 70,238.99).
