In June 2001 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction TWENTIETH CENTURY ART INCLUDING BELGIAN ART, which included the work A Still Life With A Cactus by Jan Wittenberg. The »bidding war« ended at NLG 14,100.00 (€ 6,777.12), 57% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jan Wittenberg - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A still life with white rhodondendrons in a small blue vase, which sold at auction in November 2000 for NLG 46,808.00 (€ 21,928.80).

Im Juni 2001 führte Christies in Amsterdam die Auktion TWENTIETH CENTURY ART INCLUDING BELGIAN ART durch, in der auch die Arbeit A Still Life With A Cactus von Jan Wittenberg zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von NLG 14.100,00 (€ 6.777,12) und damit 57% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Jan Wittenberg mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A still life with white rhodondendrons in a small blue vase beobachtet, die im November 2000 für NLG 46.808,00 (€ 21.928,80) versteigert wurde.
