Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A yacht and other vessels in a calm in Dordrecht harbor by Jan van de Cappelle was sold in the The Martin Feldstein Collection: Dutch Art in the Golden Age auction at Christies in New York in October 2020. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 87,500.00 (€ 75,126.64) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jan van de Cappelle achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A kaag and a smak in a calm, with fishermen pulling in their catch from a rowing-boat in the foreground, a Dutch frigate and other boats beyond in July 2005 with an auction result of GBP 3,592,000.00 (€ 5,210,162.09).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit A yacht and other vessels in a calm in Dordrecht harbor von Jan van de Cappelle wurde im Oktober 2020 in der Auktion The Martin Feldstein Collection: Dutch Art in the Golden Age bei Christies in New York versteigert. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A kaag and a smak in a calm, with fishermen pulling in their catch from a rowing-boat in the foreground, a Dutch frigate and other boats beyond im Juli 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 3.592.000,00 (€ 5.210.162,09).
