Auction result well in line with expectations
In October last year Christies in New York held the auction Old Master Paintings and Sculpture Online, which included the work A tavern interior with a woman smoking a pipe and a man cutting tobacco by Jan Steen. The price achieved of USD 44,100.00 (€ 44,392.99) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jan Steen achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Prayer Before The Meal in December 2012 with an auction result of GBP 5,641,250.00 (€ 6,957,227.93).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Old Master Paintings and Sculpture Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit A tavern interior with a woman smoking a pipe and a man cutting tobacco von Jan Steen zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 44.100,00 (€ 44.392,99) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jan Steen erzielen.
