In October 2020 Christies in New York held the auction The Martin Feldstein Collection: Dutch Art in the Golden Age, which included the work A village fair with a pamphleteer by Jan Steen. The »bidding war« ended at USD 475,000.00 (€ 407,830.34), 36% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jan Steen achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Prayer Before The Meal in December 2012 with an auction result of GBP 5,641,250.00 (€ 6,957,227.93).
