Auction result well in line with expectations
The work ‘The Dancing Couple’: a terrace with a couple dancing to a pipe and fiddle, peasants eating and merrymaking behind by Jan Steen was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July last year. It changed hands for a price of GBP 756,000.00 (€ 902,798.27) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 600,000.00 – 800,000.00. Admittedly, works by Jan Steen have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Prayer Before The Meal in December 2012 with an auction result of GBP 5,641,250.00 (€ 6,957,227.93).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit ‘The Dancing Couple’: a terrace with a couple dancing to a pipe and fiddle, peasants eating and merrymaking behind von Jan Steen kam im Juli letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in London zur Auktion. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 756.000,00 (€ 902.798,27) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 600.000,00 – 800.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jan Steen auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Prayer Before The Meal im Dezember 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 5.641.250,00 (€ 6.957.227,93).
