Auction result well in line with expectations
In June last year Christies in New York held the auction Old Masters, which included the work The Bagpiper And Merry Wife by Jan Sanders van Hemessen. The price achieved of USD 1,134,000.00 (€ 1,083,198.01) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 1,000,000.00 – 1,500,000.00. Admittedly, works by Jan Sanders van Hemessen have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Double Portrait Of A Husband And Wife, Half-Length, Seated At A Table, Playing Tables in May 2019 with an auction result of USD 10,036,000.00 (€ 9,001,704.19).
