The result of EUR 2,500.00 was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of EUR 2,500.00 – 3,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jan Korthals - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Grimburgwal in winter, Amsterdam, which sold at auction in February 2008 for EUR 9,850.00.

Die Arbeit The Hoge Sluis with the Amstel Hotel beyond, Amsterdam von Jan Korthals kam im September 2009 bei Christies in Amsterdam zur Auktion. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von EUR 2.500,00 entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von EUR 2.500,00 – 3.500,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Jan Korthals mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Grimburgwal in winter, Amsterdam beobachtet, die im Februar 2008 für EUR 9.850,00 versteigert wurde.
