Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A small street in Paris by Jan Korthals was auctioned at Christies in Amsterdam in September 2009, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of EUR 1,500.00 – 2,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for EUR 1,000.00. Admittedly, works by Jan Korthals have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Grimburgwal in winter, Amsterdam in February 2008 with an auction result of EUR 9,850.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit A small street in Paris von Jan Korthals im September 2009 bei Christies in Amsterdam versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 1.500,00 – 2.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für EUR 1.000,00 den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jan Korthals auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Grimburgwal in winter, Amsterdam im Februar 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 9.850,00.
