Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Portrait of a gentleman, three-quarter length by Jan de Baen was sold in the Master Paintings Part II auction at Sothebys in New York in January 2021. It achieved a price of USD 17,640.00 (€ 14,536.46), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 18%. Admittedly, works by Jan de Baen have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of a man standing before a desk and curtain, three-quarter length; Portrait of a woman seated before a landscape and curtain in May last year with an auction result of USD 69,300.00 (€ 64,579.26).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Portrait of a gentleman, three-quarter length von Jan de Baen wurde im Januar 2021 in der Auktion Master Paintings Part II bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 17.640,00 (€ 14.536,46) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 18%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jan de Baen auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait of a man standing before a desk and curtain, three-quarter length; Portrait of a woman seated before a landscape and curtain im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 69.300,00 (€ 64.579,26).
