Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2016 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Masters Day Sale, which included the work Portrait Of A Gentleman, Three-Quarter Length, Wearing Black With A Lace Collar, A Landscape Beyond A Draped Curtain; Portrait Of A Lady, Three-Quarter-Length, Wearing A Black Dress With Lace, And Pearl Earrings And Necklace, A Formal Garden Landscape Bey by Jan de Baen. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 21,250.00 (€ 24,844.70) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jan de Baen - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait of a man standing before a desk and curtain, three-quarter length; Portrait of a woman seated before a landscape and curtain, which sold at auction in May last year for USD 69,300.00 (€ 64,579.26).

Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 21.250,00 (€ 24.844,70) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
