Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Still life of fruit, including lemons, grapes, pears and cherries, together with a hazelnut, all arranged on a table largely draped with a blue cloth by Jan Davidsz. de Heem was sold in the Old Masters Evening Sale auction at Sothebys in London in July 2021. It changed hands for a price of GBP 289,800.00 (€ 339,850.59) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 200,000.00 – 300,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jan Davidsz. de Heem achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A banquet still life in December 2020 with an auction result of GBP 5,766,000.00 (€ 6,441,135.90).
