Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work H.M.S. Hood (illustrated); H.M.S. Hercules; H.M.S. New Zealand; H.M.S. Ness; H.M.S. Chelmer; H.M.S. Lightning; H.M.S. Sentinel; H.M.S. Havock; H.M.S. Aquarius; H.M.S. Cyclops; H.M.S. Bellona; and H.M.S. Assistance by James Scott Maxwell was auctioned at Christies in London in January 2006, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 200.00 – 400.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Scott Maxwell achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Two albums of watercolours of ship portraits including; The American steamships St Paul and Haverford (one illustrated); and The American yacht Erl King in July 2007 with an auction result of GBP 3,120.00 (€ 4,633.92).

Bellona; and H.M.S. Assistance von James Scott Maxwell im Januar 2006 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 200,00 – 400,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 120,00 (€ 175,88) den Besitzer.
