This work of art by James Scott Maxwell could be acquired at Christies in London in January 2006 for an unexpectedly low price. In the British and Continental Pictures and Watercolours auction, the work H.M.S. Africa (illustrated); H.M.S. Attentive; H.M.S. Acorn; H.M.S. Monarch; H.M.S. Arab; H.M.S. Bellerophon; H.M.S. Amethyst; H.M.S Renown; H.M.S. Hydra; H.M.S. Racer; H.M.S. Circe; H.M.S. Hannibal; and H.M.S. Torpedo Boat No. 9 changed hands for GBP 60.00 (€ 87.94) - missing the lower e Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Scott Maxwell achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Two albums of watercolours of ship portraits including; The American steamships St Paul and Haverford (one illustrated); and The American yacht Erl King in July 2007 with an auction result of GBP 3,120.00 (€ 4,633.92).
