In November 2012 Sothebys in New York held the auction Latin American Art, which included the work Hand by James Mathison. The »bidding war« ended at USD 28,125.00 (€ 21,617.99), 56% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by James Mathison; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Puño sold at auction in November 2014 with the realized price of USD 37,500.00 (€ 30,149.54).

Im November 2012 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Latin American Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Hand von James Mathison zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 28.125,00 (€ 21.617,99) und damit 56% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von James Mathison; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Puño im November 2014 mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 37.500,00 (€ 30.149,54).
