Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Mano Grande by James Mathison was sold in the Latin American Art auction at Sothebys in New York in May 2010. The price achieved of USD 16,250.00 (€ 13,137.68) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 12,000.00 – 18,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by James Mathison - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Puño, which sold at auction in November 2014 for USD 37,500.00 (€ 30,149.54).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Mano Grande von James Mathison wurde im Mai 2010 in der Auktion Latin American Art bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 16.250,00 (€ 13.137,68) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 12.000,00 – 18.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von James Mathison mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Puño beobachtet, die im November 2014 für USD 37.500,00 (€ 30.149,54) versteigert wurde.
